Remarks to Similarity Based Registration of Medical Image/volume Data

چکیده
Similarity based registration of biological image/volume data (image stack) is discussed with regard to the compromise between the data similarity corruption and the cost of the registration of these data in terms of computing effort required. In the framework of the discussion an example of the similarity based registration failure caused by the interaction between the topology of depicted object and the slicing planes is illustrated by the so called “cigarette effect” (CE). Partial solution of the CE is in conclusion.
